  • Who can participate?

    • The event will be for anyone who wants to learn or relearn JavaScript programming language or just wants to be a part of Michigan history. Some basic computer skills are required such as opening or closing a web browser, and using a keyboard; and the lesson content was designed for middle school grade level, however, it is suitable for all ages. 

    • What do I need to do, to help break the record? 

    • ​To participate, go to our FREE Registration Page and complete the form. All registered participants will receive an email from us containing their unique username and password for logging in to the event. Participants can expect this email with login instructions from us within a week of the event which begins on Friday, December 11th. 

    • On the day of the event, starting at 8:00 a.m. (EST) on Friday, December 11th, you will have 12 hours to log in at any time and complete the lesson before 8:00 p.m. (EST) on Friday, December 11th.

  • How do I Register for Free?

    • Click here or go to our registration page and complete the form. All registered participants will receive an email from us confirming their unique username and password for logging in to the event. Participants can expect this email with login instructions from us within a week of the event which begins on Friday, December 11th.

  • Do I need my parent's or guardian's approval?

    • Our registration will require a parent or guardian consent for all children age 17 years and younger. 

  • Will I get a certificate for participating?

    • It could take 10-15 days before we know if we have broken the Guinness World Records. If the Guinness World Records attempt is successful (which it will be!), then you'll receive an email with a link after the event, where participants may purchase their own official certificate directly from Guinness World Records. 

  • What is the official record title we are attempting to break?

    • The official Guinness World Records title is Most Users To Take An Online Computer Programming Lesson Within 12 Hours".

  • What is the computer science lesson that participants will complete on, December 11? 

    • The lesson content was designed at the middle school level and is suitable for all ages. Some basic computer skills are required such as opening or closing a web browser and using a keyboard. 

  • Will I need to download or install anything on my computer?

    • We strongly advise that you use a computer or tablet that has a keyboard. You will NOT need to download anything. You will need a strong and reliable internet connection.​ All registered participants will receive an email from us containing their unique username and password for logging in to the event. Participants can expect this email with login instructions from us within a week of the event which begins on Friday , December 11th. 

  • What will you be doing with my registration information?

    • We take personal data and privacy seriously and we've partnered with Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) to manage the registration ensuring the protection of personal information. All participant data is secured, will be used for communication with the participants, and will be used by Guinness World Records to validate and certify each user as an official participant.​​​
